Problem 7.4 A part arrives every ten minutes to a system having three workstations (A,B, and C), where each workstation has a single machine; the first part arrives at time 0. There are four part types, each with equal probability of arriving. The process plans for the four part types are given on the next slide. The entries for the process times are the parameters for a triangular distribution. Assume that the transfer time between arrival and the first station, between all stations, and between the last station and the system exit is three minutes. Use the Sequence Feature to direct the parts through the system and to assign the processing times at each station. Use the Sets feature to collect cycle times (total times in system ) or each of the part types separately. Animate the model and run for 10,000 minutes.

Problem 7-4 Workstations B & C Define workstations B & C as you did for workstation A
Problem 7-4: Exit Station
Problem 7-4: Create Sets Add the following sets, using “Set” spreadsheet under “Basic Process” Panel. To add members to the sets, click on tab under “Members” for the set of interest. Define the sets as shown. 3 sets to define Cycle Time Set members Entity Type Set members Picture Set members
Problem 7-4: Define Advanced Set Define advanced set using “Advanced Set” under “Advanced Process” Panel. Advanced Set with members
Problem 7-4: Define Sequences To define sequences, double click on “Sequences” under “Advanced Transfer Panel”. If the “Advanced Transfer Panel” is not listed under the panels available on left of screen, go to file -> template panel -> attach. Make sure the names used are the same names you defined in the advanced set.
