6 th Grade Keyboarding 7 th Grade Keyboarding Mrs. Wood Room 221

What Will I Learn? “Touch” method of entering alphabetic keys Function keys such as caps lock, tab, shift, enter Punctuation marks

How Will I Be Graded? Keyboarding is graded on 3 major competencies: 1.Technique 2.Accuracy 3.Speed

What is TECHNIQUE? Eyes on Copy Proper Wrist Position Proper Position of Feet Correct Distance From the Machine Proper Posture—Straight Back Proper Reach for All Keys

What is ACCURACY? YYour accuracy grade is made up of typing tests. YYou will proofreading your test. EEach error that you circle is worth one point. EEach error that you miss is worth two points. EEach test is worth 100 points.

The Need for Speed! Your goal is to key at 10 wpm (words per minute) during a one-minute timing with 3 or less errors. If you do, you will get 10/10 for a quiz grade. Each error over 3 is minus one point. For example, if you key 13 wpm and make 5 errors your score will be 8/10.

Classroom Rules and Procedures Arrive on time in a quiet and orderly manner. Be in your assigned seat when the late bell rings. Pass back folders, sharpen pencils, etc. prior to the beginning of class. Raise your hand to talk with your teacher. NO TALKING IN CLASS WILL BE TOLERATED!!!!!! Treat all equipment with respect. NO GUM IS ALLOWED IN THE COMPUTER ROOM!!!!!! I will dismiss you when the bell rings.
