Eight Simple Rules

RULE NUMBER 1  Your paper is not wrinkled or torn. Your writing is very easy for the teacher to read. ( Smooth your hand over your paper.)

Rule Number 2  Every sentence must begin with a capital letter. ( Press one finger on each capitalized word that begins a sentence.)

Rule Number 3  Every sentence must end with a period, exclamation mark, or a question mark. (Flick the end mark at the end of each sentence.)

Rule Number 4  Every paragraph is indented the width of your little finger. ( Place the tip of your little finger at the start of each paragraph.)

Rule Number 5  No paragraph is shorter than three sentences or longer than five sentences. ( Use your fingers to count the sentences in each paragraph.)

Rule Number 6  No sentence begins with “ And”. ( Put your thumb under the first word of every sentence to be sure it is not “And”.)

Rule Number 7  No sentence has more than one “and”. ( Flick every “and “ to sure no sentence has more than one.)

Rule Number 8  Days of the week, months, the names of people and places are capitalized. ( With your pointer finger, tap words that should be capitalized.)
