What Will I Learn? Provides instruction for computer science foundations, emphasis on computer systems. Provides experience with information technology, emphasis on programming. Implements use of computing principles in a variety of projects.

What can the CS department provide? Instruction by well-educated faculty with varied industry and academic experience. Internships as early as the sophomore year. Use state-of-the-art facilities with excellent computer labs and support.

How do I get accepted to the University? Graduate from an accredited high school. Complete at least 15 required units in the University System College Preparation Curriculum. Meet standardized testing requirements. –SAT verbal min. 430, math 400 –ACT verbal min. 18, math 22 –HSGPA min. 2.0

Why do I need the core requirements? Provides students with general broad based knowledge. Utilizes student strengths in other areas to build on weaknesses. Exhibits instruction across disciplines.

Could I be a computer science major? Tolerate long hours of work. Enjoy solving problems. Be equally comfortable working alone or in groups.

What should I expect as Major requirements? Expect many math and logic courses. Complete a senior project related to your expertise. Demonstrate professional writing skills.

What about Major electives? Pick from a variety of specialty classes instructed by professionals in that field. –Software development –Systems development –Math disciplines Complete 5 specialty classes in your related area.. Choose 3 more classes from any discipline at the university.

Will I be ready for the real world when I finish? Work is plentiful in the industry. –Information Technology –software engineer –software development Earn beginning salaries of approximately $35,000. Go anywhere to live-especially metropolitan areas.
