History The modern fluorescent bulb was invented in the 1890’s by Peter Hewitt. It was used for photographic studios & industries. The bulb was developed by the General Electric Company in 1970 Early Modern Fluorescent Bulb.

Other Information The CFL has a poisonous vapor called mercury, that can be released in high concentration if the bulb is broken. CFL stands for Compact Fluorescent Light or Energy Saving Light.
Purpose The CFL bulb has a longer life span that lasts up to 15,000 hours, than the incandescent that has 1,000 hours. It also uses less energy. And it is eco-friendly.
