5 Do you need a TWIC? Do you require unescorted access to secure areas of MTSA regulated facilities? Facility and vessel owners/operators are required to notify employees of their responsibility to possess a TWIC based on their need to have unescorted access to secure areas of vessels and facilities. Owners/operators are encouraged to provide this same information to personnel who are not facility or vessel employees (e.g. contractors, truck drivers). 6 How do I get a TWIC?

7 TWIC Security Threat Assessment The assessment includes checks against criminal history records, terrorist watch lists and immigration databases.

8 TWIC Security Threat Assessment The background checks for a TWIC are the same as the background checks conducted for a Hazardous Material Endorsement, with the same eligibility requirements, share a consistent waivers and appeals process and leverage the same fingerprint-based criminal history records check.
