AB 86: Adult Education Data and Accountability Forum Webinar

Purpose Share information gathered to-date on existing data systems and reporting challenges Discuss possible outcome metrics to be collected for FY14-15 Lay the ground work for policy recommendations for adult education data for FY15-16 and beyond 2

Characteristics of Effective Data-Driven Accountability Systems Provide insight into student progress through educational pathways Provide timely data to support program improvement Link across segmental and into other key relational data systems Rely on low-burden data collection mechanisms Provide robust technical assistance, built on a strong state-level data infrastructure 3

Barriers / Challenges 4 Lack of common identifiers Lack of integration between existing data systems Variability of institutional capacity or incentives for data collection No uniform process for collecting or ensuring data quality Lack of state-level mechanisms for collecting or maintaining data

How do we get there? 1.Identify core program and outcome data for use in establishing baseline 2.Establish performance indicators that show progress toward meeting the goals of AB86 funding grant 3.Establish common data protocols and processes 4.Develop systems to house and report across data submitted 5.Provide professional development to ensure fidelity of application 5
