FGMSP Context Vision- Keep it Safe, Keep it Standing, Get the Waste Out Legacy Facility built in 1950’s to provide storage, cooling and decanning of nuclear fuel. NDA and Stakeholder challenge to accelerate risk and hazard reduction. Strategy review which concluded: –The immediate appointment of an “interim programme partner” in January 13 –The appointment of a long term delivery partner (FGMSP-PP)

FGMSP- Programme Status

Anatomy of the FGMSP Challenge Uncertainties and Variables –Multiple waste forms –Variety of behaviours –Widely distributed and mixed –Multiple options for retrieval and wastes treatment Parallel Workstreams Complex environment, internal and external Risks and Opportunities

Overview for Partner Engagement Long term commercial relationship founded on Behaviours and relationships between the parties which reinforce collaboration (even in times of adversity!) FGMSP and Partnering Experiences to date Key learning from the FGMSP Partnering experience include: Developing collaborative relationships is time consuming; however greater integration and strategic engagement will enable a Partner to deliver greater value. The benefits of effective relationships and trust cannot be underestimated and takes time to establish and work to maintain The workforce is clearly enthusiastic about making progress and the adoption of new ideas as demonstrated through site visits and Working Forums A range of opportunities for the Partner engagement are available

Capabilities required from the Partner -Providing enhanced technical capability in fuel and sludge retrieval and processing. [Technical Expertise] -Enabling innovation in the way work is planned and executed so that delivery can be accelerated. [Delivery Agent] -Streamline the work management process, from identification of a business need, to delivery [Innovator and Developer] -Help address cultural issues with regard to the approach to delivering decommissioning.
