Day One: Thursday, January 8, 2014 Quiet Question: Type Two Prompt---As we saw in the Geography Lesson, water scarcity and pollution are also issues for Africa and are not just limited to the Middle East. We are now going to examine one specific controversy----the Aswan Dam. The teacher is going to read aloud pages 1 and 2 of the photocopied supplemental reading on the controversial Aswan Dam, you should be using Active Reading Strategies. Then you will be broken into groups of three or four, and you will use the rest of the reading to examine more in-depth the positive and negative effects of the Aswan Dam.

For the some of the sections, you will be taking notes in the provided graphic organizer. Night Two: Friday, January 9, 2015 Read and take notes in the provided graphic organizer from pages 4-6, stopping at Trust and Friendship. Work on Africa Unit Study Guide for midterm. Night Three: Monday, January 12, 2015 Finish reading and taking notes in the provided graphic organizer from page 6 starting at Trust and Friendship through page 9. Work on Africa Unit Study Guide for midterm.

Day Two: Friday, January 9, 2015 Class: The teacher will continue the PowerPoint Lecture on Religions in Africa. You will continue the note-taking process. Homework: Continue the reading and note-taking on the Tribalism Supplemental Reading. Work on Africa Unit Study Guide for midterm.

Day Three: Monday, January 12, 2015 Individual: You will have the class period to use the CLASS SET of the African Society PowerPoint to add to your reading notes making sure all the categories are complete. Homework: Finish up the reading and note-taking on the Tribalism Supplemental Reading and any of the PowerPoint categories. The notes will be checked the next class period for Class Participation Points. Work on Africa Unit Study Guide for midterm.
