Introduction What does it mean – “transition”, “emerging” or “misdeveloped”? Moses story Growth of complexity

Growth of Complexity World Globalization and Economic Integration Demographics Informational Revolution (PC, communication) Information Society, Knowledge Society… Revolutionary Changes in Management Education Market change and growth Quality assurance challenge Managers or MBAs: managerial hard or soft? Bologna Accord? Transition to FUTURE customer- driven approach Global strategic partnerships : “Think globally and act locally” complexity

Emerging conditions double the complexity

Extremes Split of value – what should be my son? They are nice Russian People (mind the speakers!) Plus traditional Euro-Asian and North-South split

Case study Happened at DI Workshop - May this year - Story of the Dane (low power distance, femininity, individualistic, LUA, direct communication, universal, etc.): - He came to Russia a 1.5 years ago and met Russian businessman (high power distance, masculinity, collectivistic, HUA, indirect context communication, particular, etc.) ; - He was invited to the restaurant; - IN SOME TIME he signed the contract

Questions: - What did they drink? - What did they talk about (first meeting)? - When the contract was signed ? - the next day_______________ - the next week _____________ - in a month_____________ - in a year_______________ * * * The key problem in politics or business, or education = predictability

The Message: today in emerging economies there exist both weak and strong partners, old and new values!

What are the Deans’ Vision Dreams 1. International synergy (resources, brand, expertise) 2. Meeting the foreign partner expectations 3. Meeting the local market expectations 4. Meeting the other stakeholders expectations (Ministry of Education, Accreditation associations, Mass-media, professional community, etc.) 5. Beating the local market and get the world recognition

So the situation is hopeless. But not serious at all.
