DAC 8 Sponsor’s update | Slide 2www.information.aero Domain registration and use (Sep 22, 2005) 3,833 names registered –Descrease by 75 since April ,761 customers –Increase by 50 since April 2005 Associations using.aero names –SATA.aero (Subsonic Aerodynamic Testing Association), –JPDO.aero (Joint Planning & Development Office), –FATA.aero (Florida Aviation Trades Association), –BBGA.aero (British Business & General Aviation Association), –NAFA.aero (National Aircraft Finance Association) SITA to conduct structured telephone interviews with non renewing registrants in Oct/Nov 2005

DAC 8 Sponsor’s update | Slide 3www.information.aero Acquisition of Domain Bank by Dotster Acquisition concerns a major registrar (54% of.aero names) –Dotster is one of top 10 registrars with 3M names after acquisition and with wider range of associated services Both SITA and ICANN have to consent to the contract assignment –SITA ready to issue conditional consent subject to full qualification within 3 months –Both sides waiting for ICANN to issue its consent Received assurances that there will be no interruption of the service –Dotster intends to serve.aero customers in the future –Domain Bank staff and systems contracted to operate until full handover Communications with customers once acquisition is completed –Dotster to inform customers once all permissions were obtained –SITA will provide info on its own web

DAC 8 Sponsor’s update | Slide 6www.information.aero WSIS and ICANN update World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) –governance of Internet in the widest scope (spam, security, privacy, internationalisation, sovereign government rights, global accessibility of Internet) –fair sharing of Internet connectivity costs between developed and developing countries –access to Internet for all, providing information and communication technologies to developing countries The nature of Internet regulation will change –we don’t know how (4 options under discussion) –we don’t know when (strong disagreements between governments) SITA’s position –recognize and respect the need of governments to be more involved in the wide spectrum of issues relating to Internet governance –wish to see that any change of arrangements and discussions leading up to it do not negatively impact the security, stability and global accessibility of the Internet
