Gautam’s visit Visited on August 2, Focus Areas - Health -60% Education – 30% Others – 10% (Learn & Earn Self Help Group)
Gautam’s Site Visit 5 classrooms, supported by Asha-AZ, AshaCornell, Rotary Club and Matrichaya’s other funds. Extra classroom added to accommodate the students who graduated from last year to higher levels. Two rooms allocated for vocational training for adults – zariwork and beautician course where adults were learning.
Gautam’s Site Visit The students were all very energetic and eager to learn, as like last year. There were more girls than boys but seemed some more boys now (on a quick visual scan during the prayer). There are two new teachers also.
Gautam’s Observations What I liked best was formal tracking by school management/teachers of the academic performance of each student. This is quantifiable as the marks are tracked from the time each student gave entrance exam to each time they give any test. The results show marked improvement in each case.
Gautam’s Observations This is an excellently-run project and fulfills the goal of Asha for Education. The school organizers have followed various advise I gave last year. One of those was to start a homeopathic medicine facility for low cost and timely treatment of the kids which Dr. Pandey described as very successful. The school has been able to pull in additional funding as they keep growing.
