(Image Source: scultpure_animals_botero.html) Colombian-born painter and sculptor, best known for his satirical paintings of oversized, fleshy figures with large limbs and small bodies. Botero began making sculptures in 1971 as a natural evolution from his voluminous, three dimensional paintings, and now spends most of his summers working on sculpture at his home in Tuscany, near a reliable foundry.

La Pudeur, 1981 bronze with polished granite base 72 x 24 x 21 inches (Image Source: permanent/works/BoteroL aPudeur1980.asp#) Fernando Botero is known for his obese figures in both his paintings and sculpture. These were intended to ridicule Colombian society.
