SharePoint  Enterprise SharePoint Environment (ESE)  Replaces the current Vignette intranet (connect.michigan.gov); not the internet  Allows the flexibility to create intranet sites first and add team rooms later, or vice versa  Training classes (e.g. site admin and team rooms) and project management are available to assist. (Available to users maintaining SharePoint sites currently in progress)

SharePoint  Why the change?  Current Vignette intranet will no longer be supported; it will be shut down effective 9/30/2013  MS SharePoint provides the collaboration tools and environment being requested to meet the requirements of today’s work environment

SharePoint Benefits and Functionality  Improved functionality; team rooms; individual work areas referred to as My Sites  Easily publish and share documents, calendars, and information  Intuitive, rich, and robust user interface  MS Office integration and Outlook integration  Leverages the State’s MS Active Directory – resulting in the same username/password for access  Agencies are the site owners and control permissions on their sites  Seamless cross-department environment for collaboration and sharing
