in America live in poverty…* The Problem: Every year at least $65 billion in government benefits and tax credits go unclaimed. 2 1 in 4 working families receives no major benefits at all 3 Only 7% of those eligible receive all four of the government’s major benefits and tax credits – including EITC, food stamps, Medicaid, and child care assistance Sources: 1 Current Population Survey, 2007 Annual Social and Economic Supplement’, US Census Bureau (2007); 2 ‘ Single Stop Rollout Strategy – Final Report, McKinsey & Company (2007); 3 ‘Is there a System Supporting Low-Income Working Families?”, The Urban Institute(2006). in America live in poverty…* The Solution: In 2003, the Robin Hood Foundation in New York City created Single Stop New York. In 2007, the national replication strategy began. In 2008, Single Stop opened new sites in California, New Jersey and New Mexico. Single Stop 3
