7 Wonders Acropolis of Athens & Statue of Liberty The new 7 Wonders were announced on 7 July, The Acropolis in Athens and the Statue of Liberty were in the finalist but did not win the title to be included in the New 7 Wonder’s list. In my opinion the monuments mentioned above should be in the list.

Let’s first see about the Acropolis, which is a flat-topped rock that rises 150m above sea level in the city of Athens. It was built on top of what is known as the Sacred Rock, and it was supposed to radiate power and protection for its citizens. Acropolis of Athens

Much of the original Acropolis, including the Older Parthenon, was destroyed in 480 BC when Persians invaded Athens. Many temples were rebuilt during the Golden Age of Athens (460–430 BC) when Pericles was the ruler. Phidias, a great Athenian sculptor, and two famous architects, Ictinus and Callicrates, played key roles in the reconstruction of the Acropolis.

Not only is it of great historical value but it is a wonderful place that attracts too many tourists. Today, the Parthenon is an international symbol of the Greek civilization and the temples of the Acropolis have become some of the world's most famous architectural landmarks.

Now about the Statue of Liberty, which is a statue officially titled Liberty Enlightening the World dedicated on October 28, It was a gift to the United States from the people of France to represent the friendship between the two countries established during the American Revolution. Statue of Liberty

It represents a woman wearing a stola, a radiant crown and sandals, trampling a broken chain, carrying a torch in her raised right hand and a tabula ansata tablet, where the date of the Declaration of Independence JULY IV MDCCLXXVI

The statue is made of a sheathing of pure copper, hung on a framework of steel with the exception of the flame of the torch, which is coated in gold leaf.

It stands atop a rectangular stonework pedestal with a foundation in the shape of an irregular eleven- pointed star. The statue is 46 m tall, but with the pedestal and foundation, it is 93 m tall.
