QR Seminar Norms Arrive to class respectfully, sign in and be seated. Begin pre-class activity noted on the board (it will likely be a journal assignment). Listen and respond with respect. One Mic! Do not interrupt another speaker. Politely ask to interject.
QR Seminar Norms Stay seated when someone is speaking to the class. Use all class time productively, working independently, with peers and/or with the advisor.
QR Student Expectations Sign in and out of class with permission. Use positive and constructive language only. Show that you are ready to learn by having all required books and materials. All eating and drinking will be done outside of class. All gum chewing will be done outside of the school day and properties. Daily attendance, on-time and in uniform.
QR Student Expectations Take responsibility for your learning. Study, prepare, and complete all assignments. Maintain a clean classroom. Whenever possible, leave the space better than you found it. Electronic devices will be stored away and used only outside of the school day. Be Proactive! Seek help early when concepts are challenging!
What is Quantitative Reasoning (QR)? Quantitative Reasoning is different than, but synonymous to, mathematics. Mathematics is primarily a discipline, QR is a skill, one with practical applications. Math is often exclusive with its own language, while QR has a plain, everyday language QR involves literacy, authenticity, applicability, and practicality.
