 Magnesium is a silvery metal  Because of this, magnesium is often used in fireworks  This powder, magnesium oxide, is the product of reaction

 Matter cannot be created or destroyed during a chemical reaction  The mass of the ingredients equals the mass of the water vapor, carbon dioxide, and other gases that waft from the oven, making the cake smell good

 There are 3 kinds of chemical reactions: › Decomposition Reaction: Compounds split part to form smaller compounds or elements. › Combination Reaction: Elements or compounds come together to form new compounds. › Replacement Reaction: Two or more compounds split apart and the atoms switch places to form different compounds.
