Purpose of 460 ABET Requirement – all students must have comprehensive design project Pulls together work from all other classes –Demonstrates Application Simulates Engineering Teams and Projects

Structure of Class Class time is used both for topical lectures, discussions, assignment of work –Not all lecture – we will have working discussion sections Lectures –Standard Information needed by students to do good projects Cost Estimation Report Writing Economic Evaluation –Introduction to topic and issues for the project (varies each year) –Any area on which students are having problems and need directed information.

Timing of Material Unit #1 – Starts immediately –Project Presentation –Will continue throughout the semester Unit #2 – Cost Estimating –Starts immediately Will run 1 to 2 class periods per week Rest of time to discussions and follow up on project Unit #3 – Economic Analysis –Review of Engr. 361 –Adds tax considerations

Timing Continued Unit #4 - Written and Oral Project Reports and Presentations Unit #5 – Oral Reports –At intermediate stages have oral reports –At end of semester comprehensive oral report

Grading No Curve - % Break Points –90% + A –80% + B –70% + C –60% + D –Lower Scores for the opportunity of retaking
