Presentation transcript:

For over 5 centuries, I have wandered the halls of the Tower of London, where I had been the first English queen to be publicly executed by order of my own husband, King Henry VIII. I spent most of my childhood in the Netherlands, at the court of Archduchess Margaret of Austria. In 1514, I was transferred to the French court to attend Louis XII of France’s queen and Henry VIII’s youngest sister, Mary Tudor. Upon the French King’s death, Mary returned to England but I stayed in France to attend the new queen, Claude. By this time, I spoke French fluently. During the 7 years that I had spent at the French court, I had developed a passion for French art, including fashion, poetry and music, I happened to be an excellent musician and a remarkable embroiderer as well. Around 1521, I returned to England and went to court to attend Queen Catherine of Aragon. Thanks to my French style, I stood out amongst the other ladies and became a fashion icon. That’s probably how managed to catch the King’s attention. Seeing as the Queen wasn’t even capable of producing a male heir, he approached Pope Clement VII for a divorce, but the Pope chickened out, yes Ladies and Gentlemen, he chickened out… at the thought of upsetting Queen Catherine’s nephew, The Holy Roman Emperor.

By 1533, I was pregnant and Henry was forced to act. In January, we secretly got married, which was quite disappointing as I hoped for a majestic and lavish ceremony. This led to the English Reformation as he converted his country to Protestantism and broke with the Catholic Church, just for me. He passed the Act of Supremacy and declared that he was the head of the English Church. I was then crowned Queen of England in June, finally in an extravagant ceremony at Westminster Abbey. That must have been the best day of my life; it was like a dream come true. Then in September, I gave birth to the greatest English monarch, Queen Elizabeth I. Quite proud of that one, she knew exactly what was expected of a Queen and ruled England better than any past King had. Everything went to hell from there. Henry wanted a male heir and after two miscarriages, he believed our marriage was cursed and started to search for a way out. I was then arrested for adultery, witchcraft and treason. I mean, not only did he blame me for something that wasn’t my fault, he even went as far as ordering my death just to get rid of me. Not to mention he was already bedding my lady-in-waiting behind my back. I bet he didn’t even blink when he gave out the order to execute me. Well that was his lost, I was definitely a better wife than that Catherine of Aragon. And that’s the story of how I came to be executed and imprisoned in here even in the after-life.
