In the Beginning….

2006: Hired a “web person” = Problems - Not a designer, didn’t know our CMS - I was trying to convert experience into “marketing” - Limited by lack of knowledge of IMC - Better by 2008, but not what I wanted

 Campus initiated IMC Division & Director  Aug – Director approached COEHS about collaboration  Relations were very poor/adversarial at best  Neither party understood the other; there was a definite gulf we could not cross

 2008: No more collaboration – instead IMC proposed a joint partnership around projects and people  Joint hiring of web development and marketing & design specialists  Equivalency of time, reviews & funding  Still a bit of disconnect around approach, BUT now we could work projects as a team!

 I will tell you how it worked out for the College, but Jamie Ceman has agreed nicely to fill you in from UW Oshkosh’s IMC’ perspective Jamie……….

1 st – The Partnership Itself 2 nd – Results for the College & Its Sub-Brand

 Worked very well!  Staffing was flexible but also belonged to the College  We came to understand position’s and perspectives better and with respect

1. The goal became the Sub-Brand, not numbers, bodies & $$ 2. College had access to all of IMC and they to us 3. Websites and materials could be decided on & developed quickly

The Bottom Line for Us: - Enrollment grew along with funds and networks - Maybe not a “village”, but we had a real TEAM

1. New Grad degree programs in 4 CESA’s 2. Off-campus degree & teacher ed programs with 5 CESA’s, 8 school districts & 5 UW Colleges 3. Sponsored 1 st Rural Schools Assoc in Wisconsin history

- Real Result: CESA Directors tell schools about us; schools tell others about us - Who COEHS/UWO brand spread across Wisconsin
