Done By : Nadine Orabi, Maya Basho, and Kareem Bader. Dumping wastes and polluting soil

Outline  Definition of soil pollution  Causes  Effects  Pictures  References  The end

Definition of soil pollution  The build-up in soils of: 1. persistent toxic compounds 2. chemicals 3. salts 4. radioactive materials 5. disease causing agents

Causes  Chemical Substances ( pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers)  Soil Erosion  Salty Water  Radioactive materials

Effects…  Death of fish, plants, and other aquatic things.  Polluted soil may : 1. Pass the pollutants in to the consumers ( by crops) 2. No longer grow crops 3. Release vapors and hydrocarbons into buildings

Pictures A wrong way of creating a landfill. Let’s save our environment because it is never too late.

References  For more information, check : qic/2001/C /4cs%20folder/soil.html qic/2001/C /4cs%20folder/soil.html  P.S: We used the worksheet distributed in class also as a reference.

The End  Thank You !  Any questions?
