Sallie L. Moss Candidate for Assistant Principal at Skokie High School

My Continuing Education SchoolMajorYears Emory & Henry College B.S. in Computer Information Science B.A. in Business Administration Old Dominion University M.S. in Special Education Radford UniversityM.S. in Educational Leadership

My Personal Vision To promote the success of all students in a positive and safe environment where students are challenged with educational opportunities through effective instruction with equity through utilization and collaboration of school and community resources.

How I will strengthen Skokie’s vision… By keeping the vision alive year round through ongoing school improvement planning By encouraging open communication to all stakeholders By driving school programs through an understanding of school vision

Mr. Penske (Skokie’s current principal) has outlined a few key weaknesses that will need immediate attention: Key Weaknesses ◦Failure to meet AYP ◦Difficulty understanding diversity due to recent increase in Hispanic population

Establishing a strong school culture Encourage the understanding of individuality and the value of diversity through consistent positive interactions with students, parents, and staff Establish a curriculum council to include faculty and representatives of minorities to discuss curricular and ethnic needs Offer positive recognition to all staff and students for contributions to the school

My thoughts on Achieving Annual Yearly Progress by strengthening instructional programs: Analysis of data is crucial for the overall enhancement of the learning environment Enlist in strong professional development opportunities to address weaknesses Utilization of technology can improve efficiency and effectiveness of instructional delivery

What I can do for Skokie ◦Create strong working relationships with staff, students, and parents as well as community members. ◦Motivate students and staff (An art learned from over 10 years as a varsity coach). ◦Analyze data (After receiving a B.A. in Business Administration and years of teaching high school math this comes as a second nature). ◦Offer expertise into the special education population from a M.S. in Special Education
