ä ä relieve pressure and disconnect fuel lines and plug them ä ä remove distributor and wires if necessary remove spark plugs ä ä disconnect exhaust manifold sometimes you must remove them ä ä tag all wires and vacuum hoses then remove them to the side of the engine

ä ä unbolt motor and transmission mounts, shifter linkage and or cooler lines ä ä if unbolting from a automatic transmission remove the torque converter bolts then the bolts to the bell housing ä ä make sure that the transmission is separated from the engine sometimes a plate is in between that has several small bolts holding it to the transmission

ä ä if FWD make sure that the transmission is properly supported ä ä if A/C or power steering equipped set the units to the one side so you do not have to take the lines apart. ä ä If RWD support transmission with a floor jack
