PANDASPANDAS By: Ellen Cowger & Kaylin Klein

PANDA PROTECTION What groups or people are helping to protect pandas?? They are being protected by law in China. Scientists around the world are trying to help along with the zoos in the cities of Washington D.C., Mexico City, London, Tokyo, Madrid, Paris, and Berlin. How are these efforts funded?? We think that it is funded by the government’s money and other organizations ran by the people and their volunteers. Do you think protecting pandas is worth doing?? Why or why not?? Yes!! If we don’t help to protect them now, the panda food chain will go out of balance. We’ll try to protect pandas as much as we can and for as long as we can! What do you think about these questions and their answers??

What did we do? Have you tried to help this effort?? Why or why not?? Sadly, no. We’ve haven’t found a way to help because of our location. They're located too far away for us to do something. The closest pandas to Texas would be the ones in Washington D.C. The only way we could help is by posting our thoughts to change another mind to set it towards saving pandas in another continent. What have you done to protect the environment?? We have tried recycling, planting, carpooling, walking, and helping to get rid of litter. What do you think about these questions and their answers??

5 Facts 1.Pandas use hours to eat 84 lb. of bamboo shoots everyday!! 2.Female pandas will give birth to 1 panda cub at a time. The cub will stay with her for 18 months or more. 3.Pandas are very nonsocial. Most live by their selves. 4.Pandas show their readiness to fight by lowering their heads between their front legs and often covering their eyes. Sometimes, if needed, they let out a huge bark to scare the opponent away. 5.They live in bamboo forests on upper mountain slopes of western and southwestern China.
