Creating a Bibliography This lesson will teach you how to create a bibliography section at the end of an essay or report

What is a bibliography? Bibliography  A list of all books, websites, or articles you used for research – whether quoted in your report or not.

Why use a bibliography?  You are using someone else’s work – you must give them credit!  So that someone reading your paper can refer back to your resources.  It is a skill you will need for both high school and college.  It’s part of your grade!

What is ‘plagiarism?  Plagiarism is an ‘academic’ word for stealing.  Plagiarism is forgetting to reference someone’s work, or copying someone’s work without giving them credit for it.

What information do you need to get started?  Title of the book, article, or website  Author  Publisher  Publication date  Place of publication

Write this information down every time you take notes!  If you forgot to write down this information the first time, go back and find it!

Where to find this information:  Title: Cover  Author: Cover  Publishing Company: Usually on the title page.  Publishing City: On the front or back of the title page.  Publishing Year: On the front or back of the title page.
