The Challenge College needs to reorganize Information Technology and Library Services Independent past organizations, that at one time reported to different places, now report to a new leader

The Challenge Stable workforce with excessive job security, few incentives, and little energy for change No sense of customer service Loyal to the institution No one loses their job Institution operates on an old strategic plan and have agreed to continue to follow it for 5 more years (will begin new planning process soon)

SWOT Strengths Lots of people; some with talent; a few ‘stars’ Beautiful Environment Good funding Great faculty Great students Good relationship with Human Resources New Library/IT facility coming online in 2 years Staff assistance with organizational effectiveness

SWOT Weaknesses Far from civilization Hard to recruit Staff Issues –have never had other work experiences –skills not current –lack communication skills –do not know how to be inclusive –middle of career, therefore no one retiring soon, no one wants to leave “No one gets ‘laid off’”
