The Setting The setting for the story takes place in a modern day neighborhood with a lot of kids. Gregg has an average size house. In his neighborhood there are not many tree’s. The North Side by Gregg’s neighbor hood is where all the rich kids live.

The characters in the Story  Gregg Heffley-the main character. Has 3 little points in his hair. He wears a white shirt with black shorts everyday.  Rowley Jefferson-Gregg’s best friend. Has 7 strips of hair that spread over his head. He also has a overbite. Rowley wears a white shirt with black shorts.  Susan Heffley-Gregg’s mother-Susan has a big puff of hair on the top of her head, with nice hair that goes down the side. She wears a white long sleeve shirt with long black pants.  Frank Heffley-Gregg’s father. Frank has 3 strips of hair that over lap the back of his head. Frank wears a long sleeve white shirt like a business man. He also wears a tie with long black pants.

Characters Continued  Rodrick Heffly-Gregg’s oldest brother. Rodrick has 3 kind of long strips of hair sticking on top of his head, he wears a white shirt with long black pants(he also likes to bully Gregg  Manny Heffley-Gregg’s younger brother- Manny also has 3 strips of hair pointed on the top of his head, but his hair is kind of curly. Manny wears a little white shirt with little black long pants.  Fregley Breek- Gregg’s weird friend. Greggs Fregley has 5 lines of hair that over lap his head. He also wears a white shirt with black shorts. He also has glasses.

Plot  The plot is that Gregg and Rowley get into an argument, so Rowley’s parents found a replacement friend for him. Then Gregg tries to make Rowley jealous by making new friends but all that does is make Rowley happy.

Resolution  The resolution is that Gregg and Rowley reunite, and come back to be best friends again.

My Opinion  I thought the book was very cool, because it has so many funny parts through out the book. I like the way how Rowley acts all immature. It is also funny when Manny always gets what he wants

Summary  Gregg Hefley has always been in a hurry to grow up, but he is getting older. Gregg suddenly finds himself dealing with the pressure of boy-girl parties, increased responsibilities, and even the awkward changes of getting older- all with out his best friend Rowley at his side.
