WEEKLY TIMETABLE PE Times – KE class: Outdoor on Tuesday, indoor on Wednesday. JR class: Outdoor on Friday, indoor on Wednesday. Swimming will start in January. Cooking sessions throughout the year will be on a Wednesday with Mrs Porter and Mrs Hale, a one off payment of £8 for ingredients has been requested. Forest school will be on a Monday afternoon, led by Miss Whatley and Mrs Heathcote – this will not start until Term 2. Every Thursday afternoon we will be having our music lesson, learning how to play the cello!

MORNING ROUTINE Classroom doors will be open from 8.45 for the children to come into class independently. This will ease congestion in the cloakrooms. If you do need to speak to us about an issue please try to leave it until after school as first thing in the morning is very busy! Lunchtimes – children who are having a school dinner, will need to choose their meal and select the appropriate coloured band.

READING & SPELLING Changing Books – opportunity to change their book every day if necessary. Benchmarking will start shortly. Reading – we will listen to your child read at least once a week – hopefully twice, please could you continue this at home. Spelling – children will be given spelling activities to complete within school which are personalised to their needs. Spelling lists will not be sent home unless part of a homework activity.

LITERACY Literacy – we will be looking at a range of genres. Handwriting – we use the Nelson handwriting scheme. By the end of Year 4 it is expected that all children will be writing in pen with joined letters. SPAG – This is a relatively new initiative to raise standards.
