Journey of the spirit, Lesson 18, Final stage of the journey Or the final destination AARAAF (the heights) The Hell fire

What is the AARAAF Is plural of the word URF or comb of the roaster or its crest, or mane or curls of the horse. And it is used for the higher places from where the knowledge of lower places, can be acquired, it is also used for the dignitaries who knowledge, respect and piety is very high. In this verse it reflects the heights beside the bridge of SIRAAT, where both hell and the Paradise can be seen clearly. The Paradise Land of Judgment The Hell

Who are these men on the heights: Based on the verses there are two categories: The Infallibles (AS) who will intercede and prevent the believers from falling down into the hell. These are standing on the higher position of the AARAAF. The ones who are waiting for the decision or the intercession, these for some reason they are between going to the Paradise because they have excellent good deeds, but they have also bad deeds which prevents them from entering the Paradise, so they are waiting for the intercession, so if God gives any one among them to have to be interceded, then one on the intercessors will intercede if they wish to do so. These are standing in the valley of AARAAF.

Different opinions: The AARAAF: 1.It is a high station which has a view on both the Paradise and the Hell. (the best opinion) 2.It is the Hill which looks like the crest of the roaster. 3.It is above the wall between the Hell and the Paradise. 4.It is the Bridge over the Hell. 5.It is a metaphor for High rank men. The Men: we mentioned that there are two types one on the Higher stations and other on the lower station which can be understood clearly by the verse, but beside that there are opinions which say these are JINN believers, or illegitimate children or the children of non believers who dies before the age of adolescence, these are angels, these are Prophets (AS), these are Martyrs,….12 opinions.

Men on the Heights وَبَيْنَهُمَا حِجَابٌ وَعَلَى الأَعْرَافِ رِجَالٌ يَعْرِفُونَ كُلاًّ بِسِيمَاهُمْ وَنَادَوْاْ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَن سَلاَمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَمْ يَدْخُلُوهَا وَهُمْ يَطْمَعُونَ {46} [Shakir 7:46] And between the two there shall be a veil, and on the most elevated places there shall be men who know all by their marks, and they shall call out to the dwellers of the garden: Peace be on you; they shall not have yet entered it, though they hope (to enter it). وَإِذَا صُرِفَتْ أَبْصَارُهُمْ تِلْقَاء أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لاَ تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ {47} [Shakir 7:47] And when their eyes shall be turned towards the inmates of the fire, they shall say: Our Lord! place us not with the unjust وَنَادَى أَصْحَابُ الأَعْرَافِ رِجَالاً يَعْرِفُونَهُمْ بِسِيمَاهُمْ قَالُواْ مَا أَغْنَى عَنكُمْ جَمْعُكُمْ وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ {48} [Shakir 7:48] And the dwellers of the most elevated places shall call out to men whom they will recognize by their marks saying: Of no avail were to you your amassing and your behaving haughtily:

Further communication أَهَـؤُلاء الَّذِينَ أَقْسَمْتُمْ لاَ يَنَالُهُمُ اللّهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ ادْخُلُواْ الْجَنَّةَ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلاَ أَنتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ {49} [Shakir 7:49] Are these they about whom you swore that Allah will not bestow mercy on them? Enter the garden; you shall have no fear, nor shall you grieve. وَنَادَى أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ أَفِيضُواْ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاء أَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللّهُ قَالُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ {50} [Shakir 7:50] And the inmates of the fire shall call out to the dwellers of the garden, saying: Pour on us some water or of that which Allah has given you. They shall say: Surely Allah has prohibited them both to the unbelievers. الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُواْ دِينَهُمْ لَهْوًا وَلَعِبًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا فَالْيَوْمَ نَنسَاهُمْ كَمَا نَسُواْ لِقَاء يَوْمِهِمْ هَـذَا وَمَا كَانُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ {51} [Shakir 7:51] Who take their religion for an idle sport and a play and this life's world deceives them; so today We forsake them, as they neglected the meeting of this day of theirs and as they denied Our communications.

Fall into the hell fire: وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ {73} [Shakir 23:73] And most surely you invite them to a right way. وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ لَنَاكِبُونَ {74} [Shakir 23:74] And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. Those who do not believe in the straight path and deviated from it, they will deviate from the bridge on the day of judgment and fall into the pit of the hell fire. In the hell fire they will live the unimaginable distressed life, life filled with pain, agony, misery, chastisement, punishment, when ever they will burn completely, they will not die, they will remain in their pain even when the body is totally collapsed, in this world a person has limit for tolerance, when he passes that limit he loses his conscious or dies, but there is no death in Hell, the body regenerates to go back into same torture, torment, pain and suffering. The remaining lessons we will not mention the verses of Quraan, due to lack of time.

Regeneration of the body الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَى {12} [Shakir 87:12] Who shall enter the great fire; ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَى {13} [Shakir 87:13] Then therein he shall neither live nor die. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا سَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِمْ نَارًا كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتْ جُلُودُهُمْ بَدَّلْنَاهُمْ جُلُودًا غَيْرَهَا لِيَذُوقُواْ الْعَذَابَ إِنَّ اللّهَ كَانَ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا {56} [Shakir 4:56] (As for) those who disbelieve in Our communications, We shall make them enter fire; so oft as their skins are thoroughly burned, We will change them for other skins, that they may taste the chastisement; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. Scientific point: The skin has pain senses. So if there is no skin they will not feel the pain, that may be why Quraan mentions the skin regeneration.

Food of hell (JAHANNUM) ZAQOOM: Grows in the base of the hell, some thing similar with this name exists in this world, and it smell completely awful, and it tastes extremely bitter, its juice is acidic, irritates the skin. If this is ZAQOOM of this world, then imagine how strong will be the ZAQOOM of here after. Even the looks of ZAQOOM is scary. GHISLEEN: From GHOSLA, or drain, this a food some say it is a drink, and could be something slimy, this food is composed of the pus, blood and all the filth which is drained out from the disbelievers, it is given back to them as their food, and some narrations say, that this is the same filth and impurities which they used to consume in this world has been converted into such form. DHREEA’: This food does not satisfy the hunger nor nourishes the body, in this world it is killing poison, but in the here after it is a fruit made out of fire, it is more foul than the dead body, and more bitter than the most bitter plant in this world.

Drink in the hell fire (JAHANNUM) When Quraan mentions some names of these items, it is just to make the picture clear in the mind, other wise the items or hereafter are much more worse and sever than the ones which are in this world, in fact those items have never been in a though or an imagination. People in the hell if they are thirsty from the heat and dehydration, they shout for water, but they are given the followings: HAMEEM: Burning hot water, it burns the organs internally, where ever the forbidden drink went in the world this drink will go there and burn those parts, when the pus, blood and melting internal organs will come out of him, such will be collected and given it back to him when he asks for water, and this is called SADEED or GHASAAQ, they can hardly swallow that water, because it will be burning like hell, it will be so bitter, it will have extremely foul odor, and it be contain the pus, blood and all the filth coming out of the ones who drink the burning water. The more they are thirsty the more they consume what comes out of them.

Cloth in the hell (JAHANNUM) فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قُطِّعَتْ لَهُمْ ثِيَابٌ مِّن نَّارٍ يُصَبُّ مِن فَوْقِ رُؤُوسِهِمُ الْحَمِيمُ [22:19] those who disbelieve, for them are cut out garments of fire, boiling water shall be poured over their heads. وَتَرَى الْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّقَرَّنِينَ فِي الأَصْفَادِ [14:49] And you will see the guilty on that day linked together in chains. سَرَابِيلُهُم مِّن قَطِرَانٍ وَتَغْشَى وُجُوهَهُمْ النَّارُ {50} [14:50] Their shirts made of pitch and the fire covering their faces. كُلَّمَا أَرَادُوا أَن يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا مِنْ غَمٍّ أُعِيدُوا فِيهَا وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ [22:22] Whenever they will desire to go forth from it, from grief, they shall be turned back into it, and taste the chastisement of burning. يُصْهَرُ بِهِ مَا فِي بُطُونِهِمْ وَالْجُلُودُ {20} [ 22:20] With it shall be melted what is in their bellies and (their) skins as well. وَلَهُم مَّقَامِعُ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ {21} [ 22:21] And for them are whips of iron.
