The Greek goddess of love Aphrodite The Greek goddess of love

Αφροδιτη Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love. Also know as Venus, her roman name She is know for her dazzling beauty Her husband, Hephaestus, is the smith-god Eros, or cupid, is her son Aphrodite enchants anyone who sees her

An Olympian Aphrodite was born from the foam in the sea She was involved in the judgment of Paris. It was a contest between the three most beautiful Olympian goddesses, Hera, Athena, and of course Aphrodite. The prize being a golden apple, addressed, “To the Fairest.” Paris of Troy was to decide who the winner was. Each of the goddesses offered Paris something in return to being chosen. He chooses Aphrodite because she promised him Helen for a wife. This led to the Trojan War and the fall of the city.

Venus Eros (Cupid) is not only Aphrodite’s son but he is also the god of love. Aphrodite is know for marrying an ugly god, Hephaestus Cupid kind of followed his mother’s footsteps. He fell in love with Psyche, a mortal princess. Aphrodite hated her for her beauty. Aphrodite had Eros persuade Psyche to fall in love with a monster (but it was actually Eros). Psyche believed him to be very ugly. Psyche only saw him at night, because Eros kept her hidden away from everyone else. Psyche's was curious and she looked at Eros with a candle while he was sleeping . Eros was so mad that he left her. He knew that he loved her to much though. So he begged Zeus to change her to an immortal, and they were married.
