Registration with the General Teaching Council for England (GTCE) Presentation by Mark Fieldsend

What is the GTCE? Set up in 2001 –Independent professional body for teaching 3 main roles –Register –Regulate –Advise Additionally the GTCE awards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Who needs to register with the GTCE? Two types of registration –Full Qualified Teachers (564045) –Provisional Trainee Teachers (49363) Overseas Trained Teachers (4590) Instructors (8111) (Figures from Jan 2010)
