Tsunami Exercise for PR/VI, Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico: April 2, 2009 Puerto Rico Seismic Network

 To improve the effectiveness of the tsunami alert system for Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, the East Coast of the united States, and Canada.  This exercise is an opportunity for emergency managers to test operational communications, revise the protocols for a tsunami response, and promote preparation before the phenomenon.

 Test our operational response system to emergencies in case of a tsunami.  General objectives: ◦ Ensure that the transmission of the tsunami messages are coordinated. ◦ Try using the plans in a potential tsunami scenario ◦ Identify a process to transmit the “all clear” notification.
