My 5 th Grade Portfolio By: Jay

Opening Note Date: These are things I think I do well. 1.Math 2.Science 3.Social Studies I am most proud of how good I am in math.

The one thing I need to continue to work on the most is figuring out what a word means in a book. You can help me do this by doing by answering me when I ask or to have a dictionary. My goal before the end of the year is not to leave a word that I don’t know in a unknown by me.

School Feelings I feel the best about myself in class when I get a question right. I have the most fun in this class when we are doing science experiments. I feel proud of myself in this class when I get an A +. The best thing I contribute to this class is good character.

Self Report Card Always, Usually, Sometimes Seldom I use time wisely Always I follow directions Always I complete assignments on time Always I get my planner signed every week Always My papers are neat Always I work quietly Always My desk is organized Always I work well in groups Sometimes I put a lot of effort into my work Always I participate in class discussions Usually

Math Reflection Things that I have learned 1.algebra expressions 2.order of operations 3.circle graphs Things I have to work on 1.Negative numbers 2.Multiplieing and dividing fractions 3.Finding sale prices

Math Reflection continued I feel confident when I work in math class because I am good at it. Outside of school, I use math when I am totaling up my reading minutes.

Reading Reflection Things that I have learned 1.what parts you need in predictions 2.major and minor characters 3.setting Things that I have to work on 1.writing down my thinking 2.predicting more often 3. figuring out what a word means

Home Reading Reflection The kind of books I like to read are fantasy. I choose what I’m going to read by having my dad pick random books off the shelf that look interesting. I can become a better reader by writing my reading down more often.

Reflection on Writing I think my writing is strong because I don’t often use boring words and never write sentences like I ate dinner. I am really proud of how detailed my stories are.

Social Studies Reflection My favorite thing about Social Studies this year is the explorer project. I learned the following information 1. the Native Americans lived in 4 different types of places 2.Native Americans use what is around them to eat. 3.latitude and longitude

Writer’s Workshop I feel stuck when I work in writer’s workshop because I have trouble thinking about a story to write I use writing in my everyday life when I write thank you notes.

Science Reflection My favorite thing about Science this year was when we did the car experiments in the motion and design unit. I learned the following information 1.your stomach digests food by mixing it with gases and squeezing 2.saliva helps break down food 3.you are made up of millions of cells
