 Russians are taught not to smile in school.  In Moscow, Russia has more billionaires living there than any place in the world.  Russians have a lot of superstitions  If you spent two minutes looking at each exhibit in the Hermitage it would take six whole years!

 In the Summer Olympics Russia has won  108 gold medals  101 silver medals  113 bronze medals  34 gold medals  24 Sliver medals  19 bronze medals  In the Winter Olympics

Russia has had some troubles with hosting the Olympics. There has been bombings in the city they are hosting the Olympics in! So, there is a lot of concern.

Although there have been difficulties, Russia has been happy to host the Olympics. Russia has ‘buffed up’ security and is ready to roll with the countries coming from all around the world.

In World War II the Soviet Union was one of America’s allies. What we did not know about them was they were keeping innocent people hostage. They were moved from their homes and taken to Siberia.

After the Soviet Union took the people there, they were to make their own houses out of mud, sticks, and snow. Many people died. After years of torture they were finally released.

Who knows why but there has said to be haunting in Russia. Maybe because of all the deaths during World War II or maybe for other reasons. I think that Russia is a place that is haunted, but it is not for me to say.

Beginning in the 1950’s The Cold War was started. This battle was between America and Russia. They were going to see who could have the first man on the moon. Both sides worked hard, and finally someone landed on the moon. But unfortunately it was not Russia, but it was the U.S.

Although Russia didn’t have the first man on the moon, they still had many more space achievements, here are some of them.  First space traveler to space ( dog )  First photos of the far side of the moon  First to Venus ( drone)  First drone on the moon

 Russia has gone through eight different designed flags.  Russia once had a flag black yellow and white ( shown on right )  Russia was also called the Soviet Union which was put on one of their flags
