Motivation and Success Do you have it in you to succeed?

BRILL elementary school has given you many of the tools to help you succeed… Which tools can you name?

If you can’t think of them…I can name a few…

Character Traits Social Skills Life Skills AN EDUCATION

WE STARTED OUR YEAR WITH DR. SUESS… Great Quotes and 1 REAAAALLY AWESOME BOOK!!!

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

OH, THE PLACES WE WILL GO

MOTIVATION WHAT IS IT???

Internal state or condition that activates behavior and gives it direction; desire or want that energizes and directs goal-oriented behavior

HAVE YOU EVER HAD THAT “A – HA” MOMENT?!!

I HEARD ABOUT A PARROT THAT HAD A MAJOR “A – HA” MOMENT

NOW FOR A BRIEF COMMERCIAL: “THE CHICKEN IN THE FREEZER”

Sooo…. HAVE YOU HAD AN “A – HA” Moment??

Life, challenges, success

ARE YOU READY FOR THEM????

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!! YES!!!

You have been at BRILL for a VERY LONG TIME!!! Now it is time to move on…

What are your goals, dreams, desires???

Inspirational yet honest, and always rhythmically rollicking, Oh, the Places You'll Go! is a perfect sendoff for children, 1 to 100, entering any new phase of their lives. Kindergartners, graduate students, newlyweds, newly employeds--all will glean shiny pearls of wisdom about the big, bountiful future. The incomparable Dr. Seuss rejoices in the potential everyone has to fulfill their wildest dreams: "You'll be on your way up! / You'll be seeing great sights! / You'll join the high fliers / who soar to high heights." At the same time, he won't delude the starry-eyed upstart about the pitfalls of life: "You can get all hung up / in a prickle-ly perch. / And your gang will fly on. / You'll be left in a Lurch.“

This is a lot to throw at you …but you can handle it!!!

Overcoming obstacles How can you overcome obstacles? Be a problem-solver!! Make a plan!!

How can you… relate this book to making choices on a way to "building your future?"

TO DO… What is the theme of the book? What are some of the obstacles Dr. Seuss mentions? What are some of the good things along the road? What are some things we all should know? How does this relate to you personally?

Some questions to prompt your thinking include: "What is success?" "What is the most difficult part about succeeding?" "What is difficult for a child to understand about success? How could you simplify that?" Students should use the white paper to create not only a story but also illustrations.

What fun thing are we going to do? Students will write a story/journal entry on their thoughts of the presentation and books. It will be based on motivation and success. What do they want, etc.

What fun thing are we going to do? You will first write a story/journal entry on their thoughts of the presentation and books.

What is it about, YOU ASK?? It will be based on motivation and success.

Students will create a children’s book, advice book, “Dear Diary” on their story/journal entry. They have creative freedom on this activity. ( They will turn in a story board prior to getting book.)
