 Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904 in springfield, Massachusetts.  His real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel  After World War II He wrote and published several children's books in the coming years, including If I Ran the Zoo and Horton Hears a Who!

 The Cat in the Hat, was published in 1957 and was described by one critic as a "tour de force." The success of The Cat in the Hat cemented Geisel's place in children's literature.

 When Dr. Seuss Published the Lorax in 1971, and perhaps inspired by the "save our planet" mindset of the 1960s.

 The National Education Association is building a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.  Cause Dr. Seuss Want Kids to love to read that way he made his books so fun.  This is why we have Dr. Seuss week or national read week the week of his birthday!!
