Expressing Lack of Ownership or Nonexistence. 1. Russians express a lack of ownership using a structure “ У + Genitive case + нет + Genitive case” Never use “ не есть ” instead of “ нет ” Examples: У него нет собаки (He does not have a dog) 2.
