Website Disseminating and Archiving Critical Data We use our website to provide information about APAC, provide a clearinghouse of campus AP resources, record current and prior news of interest to APs, and serve as an archive for documentation. We need people with web experience to help us maintain and update our website.

Appoint Committee Members Running Elections and Appointing APs APAC helps to coordinate AP representation on critical search committees: President Current and prior Chancellors Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost) APAC helps coordinate AP representation on critical policy development and implementation committees: ARR HR Implementation Subcommittee Conflict of Interest Policy Committee

Initiatives New Ways We Would Like to Serve APs Proactive Representation Identify opportunities for AP representation on campus committees, coordinate and draft letters from APAC to decision makers, and work to ensure APs are represented in policy development and implementation. Professional Development Coordinate with training offices (HR, AITS, OVCR, etc), identify current opportunities, define gaps in professional development, develop recommendations, work to meet the needs of the campus.

Participating on APAC and Our Subcommittees

Options - Subcommittees Joining Subcommittees and Joining APAC If you specifically interested in one aspect of APAC (events, APAC News, CAPE, Etc), contact the subcommittee Chair to get involved. You can negotiate your level of involvement with the subcommittee Chair. There is no minimum or maximum amount of time to devote. You can limit your participation to a subcommittee, or join a subcommittee as a way to learn more about APAC.

Options - APAC Joining Subcommittees and Joining APAC If you are interested in joining APAC, the first step is to attend our regular monthly meetings as a non-voting guest. You will learn more about our operations. APAC members are expected to attend monthly business meetings (90 minutes once per month). APAC members are also expected to participate on or lead at least one subcommittee. If you decide you want to join APAC, committee members can help you with the nomination process.

Qualifications Who Should Get Involved? Academic colleges are under represented. No members voice many college-specific concerns. No prior experience is required and you are not expected to know everything when you join. New APAC members are paired with a current APAC member (mentor). You can ask them questions, and they will try to help bring you up to speed. New members are also encouraged to read survey results, review our website, and attend APAC events to learn about issues of interest or concern.

What Makes a Good Member? Who Succeeds? Interest in serving other APs Takes ownership of projects Works well with little guidance Seeks input when needed Develops creative solutions to problems Willing to make decisions and take action Interest in learning about campus Interest in networking

Questions You Asked in Advance

Is APAC a Union? No. APAC is a statutory committee. A union has a collective bargaining agreement between the constituency and the employer. A union charges members dues to generate revenue. APAC has a fixed annual budget of about $3,000. A union has a mandatory, regulated bargaining process. APAC has had to cultivate relationships within the University to provide input and influence change.

Other Questions Questions related to ARR and Civil Service Prior events, APAC News stories, PACADEMY posts, etc, on these topics These are both high on our agenda We will continue to work to make sure that information is communicated to the campus and APs are represented in the development and implementation processes Talk to us after the event for more specific details.
