Presentation transcript:

Welcome to 6 th Grade! Have a seat and enjoy your breakfast! Locate the trash can to dispose of any breakfast trash You’ll Fit Right in!

Arrival Busses enter the North Entrance at 8:00. Some busses arrive after 8:00. Car riders, bike riders, and walkers go to the Underwood side (Football Field) and wait on the patio. These students should not arrive before 7:30. Those doors are locked at 8:15, must be signed in by a guardian after 8:15 Students should grab breakfast and drop off instruments before coming to class

Baker Breakfast All students go straight to the cafeteria if getting breakfast, and then proceed to first period. Breakfast MUST be completed and desks must be cleared of all trash by 8:14, class will begin promptly at 8:15

1.Where do you enter the building? 2.Will you stop for breakfast? 3.Do you need to drop off an instrument? Determine the smoothest arrival for YOU!

Tardy Policy Students must be in first period by 8:15 or you will be marked tardy, unless you arrive on a late bus. Three morning tardies will result in a lunch detention.

Attendance Why is attendance important? Texas law requires that students attend 90% of EACH class to be given credit for that class. Summer school may be required for promotion if a student obtains an excessive amount of unexcused absences.

Dress Code Collared Shirts, must always be tucked in Jeans or Slacks Please abstain from wearing clothes with holes No Make-Up Jackets MUST be unzipped No Hoodies or pull-overs No sandals, slides, or heelies, no hats, skirts and shorts must be near the knee. Dress code will be checked during first period each day.

Hallway Procedures Walk on the right side, including the right side of the cafeteria. Don’t cut through the library. Get where you’re going – don’t block the hallway. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

Restroom Procedures Only stop at restrooms between classes when you have time to do so, and only 4 people in the restroom at one time. RR Passes in your planner are for emergencies. You’ll need to take care of RR needs when you have time to do so during the school day, based on your specific schedule.

Cafeteria Procedures Everyone will report to 4 th period and that teacher will tell you if you have first or second lunch. Your 4 th period teacher will take you to the cafeteria at the designated time and students will sit at their assigned table. Students sit 3 to a bench in the order that they arrived – left to right/North to South. Teachers can leave as soon as students are seated. Tables will be sent to the lunch lines by Ms. Rose, and students should return to their table sitting 3 to a bench left to right/North to South, although this may not be the same place they were sitting before. No one should stop at the restroom on the way to lunch, or ask to go before getting their lunch. If someone needs to go to the restroom, look to see if the appropriate pass is available. If it is, raise your hand and ask one of the cafeteria monitors for permission to go. Be sure to get condiments, napkins, and utensils before sitting down. Raise your hand to ask permission before getting up from your seat for any reason.

Discipline Our ability to build a brighter future for students hinges on their cooperation. The amount of time we spend on discipline takes away from the amount of instruction we are able to provide, so we need their help to make their one year at Baker a positive and productive experience for everyone. For the first two weeks, we will try to remind students of the rules and procedures. After that, consequences will come with those reminders. Typical procedural infractions, including classroom issues, will result in a warning, parent notification, teacher detention, and then an office referral. Severe infractions will result in office referrals with administrative consequences.

Peer Conflict School is filled with lots of people and you might not get along with everyone. If you can’t get along with anyone, the problem might not be with the other people. If you have an issue with someone, tell your teacher so he or she can monitor the situation and try to help. If it persists, tell the counselor (Ms. Cummings) or the Asst. Principal (Ms. Rose). Teachers have Incident Report and Counselor forms that you can complete, and your teacher will give this to the appropriate administrator.

Dismissal Make sure students know how they are getting home, what bus they are riding home (if bus rider), and where to go if car rider (Underwood side), bike rider or walker(South Exit). A very few students will cross the football field and Underwood, and they may exit the Underwood side. Bike riders must walk their bike on the sidewalk until they get to the stop sign. Car riders MUST be picked up in the car rider line on the underwood side – not in the South parking lot or in the neighborhood behind the school. Walkers must walk on the sidewalk – not cutting across the field. Car Riders, Walkers, and Bike Riders will be dismissed at 3:58 each day. Bus riders will be dismissed as their busses arrive. Be sure to listen to the announcements, and do not leave your class until your bus is called. You must go straight to the North Exit unless you are picking up an instrument.
