 Speech is designed to offer students an opportunity to learn about themselves and their roles in most speaking situations. Emphasis is placed in the dispelling of fear which accompanies public speaking and the organization of material in a logical and disciplined manner

 Speech topics for the year: ◦ Introductions/Peer Interviews ◦ Pet Peeve/ Amusing Anecdotes ◦ Informative Speech ◦ Demonstration Speech ◦ Debates ◦ Job Skills ◦ Impromptu Speeches

 Student Responsibilities: ◦ BE ON TIME  There is no place in this building that you cannot reach in 4 minutes. If you are going to be late, YOU MUST GET A PASS. ◦ BE PREPARED  Homework  Books/Notebooks  Writing utensils

◦ BE COURTEOUS  Talking is fine, but not when others are talking. You are responsible for what comes out of your mouth.  Cell phones, Ipods, and other electronic devices are STRICTLY PROHIBITED (See Student Handbook)  NO HATS (See Student Handbook)  Sleeping is a classroom disruption  Substitute teachers  As per the District’s policy, no food is permitted in the classroom.  Do NOT pack up before class has ended/line up at door ◦ PARTICIPATE – Be an active student  Your questions and insights are important.
