…the deeper our conceptions of learning the more able we are to improve learning... Guy Claxton, quoting from the UK national school improvement network

The age of learning… Immersive, engaging and creative… Collaborative and information rich… School-home-leisure-work lines blurred… Is creation more important than acquisition? >> Reflect

Digital native or great learner?

“Like air and drinking water, being digital will be noticed only by its absence, not its presence." Nicholas Negroponte, on the future of ‘being digital’ >> Reflect

Reflect … What is required for the future? For students and teachers? ICT - learning - learning-design What are we doing right now to get what we want?

Live cooking demo… Some things you could try tomorrow: Set up a blog… Play with flickr… Try podcasting… What are the implications for learning if you try this? What are the implications for learning if you don’t?

The challenge of change… Beliefs… change slowly and stick Control… using ICT & inquiry The power of mistakes… Change takes time- how long? Move from learn more, to learning better TOWARDS cultivating better learners…

Building Professional excellence… Decreasing phobias… Teacher inquirers… Change the conversations… Modeling these attributes… Become a better learner… “…of all the factors a school can control, it is the quality of the pedagogy that most directly and powerfully affects the learning and achievement of students.”

Reflect … Moving beyond today… Do a brainstorm of the things you'd like to learn…..how you might go about learning them…..and prioritise them across next term or over the coming year… How will you share this learning?

Thanks! Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated. References, ideas, downloads and this presentation is available off my class web site: e: w:
