2 Tripartition of the project’s objectives creates focus on… Deliverables What should be delivered? The product. Success criteria What was the effect? Effect targets. Purpose Why this project? Problem to be solved. Desired effect. The vision. … why the project should be carried out, what is to be delivered, and what the desired effect of the project should be.

3 The project’s objectives 1. Purpose Why is the project carried out? ”In order to...” Have we obtained the purpose? Measuring the effect of the project at the operational stage (connects to purpose) ”By being able to measure/conclude...” How is the purpose realised? Deliverables of the project? ”By delivering... (the end product achieved when the project is completed) 2. Success criteria 3. Deliverables

5 Description of milestones A milestone An unambiguous, certain state The conditions connected to the realisation of the project planning The milestone must be SMART and contain quality assurance For every milestone, an exact date and responsible person will be defined S pecific M easurable A ccepted R ealistic (but still ambitious) T ime-bound SMART Example Specification off requirements to new IT system has been prepared. The specification is approved by IT manager (signature). Deadline: September 31th. Responsibility: John Smith.
