WHAT DOES E-LEARNING MEAN ? THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN ORDER TO : PLAN DISTRIBUTE CHOOSE MANAGE CONSOLIDATE A LEARNING PROCESS

THE USE OF MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES IN ORDER TO IMPROVE LEARNING THROUGH : RESOURCES SERVICES EXCHANGES LONG DISTANCE CO-OPERATION

E –LEARNING PUNTOEDU Enviroment Peculiarities Methodology centred on trainees On line training environment for teachers A sharing environment of the on - going learning experiences “Open source” e-learning platform for teachers’ training Learning environment based on competences rather than on contents

Main aims and objectives The main aim is that of supporting teachers in the achievement of the following general objectives : 1.Provide the children with the instruments necessary to compare their own culture with other cultures. 2.Be able to plan teaching and learning paths suitable for the children’s needs and backgrounds.

Main aims and objectives 3. Use strategies that permit the acquisition of communicative abilities. 4. Be able to evaluate and choose approaches which enable individualised learning paths. 5. Be able to organize classroom activities which favour the gradual evolution of all four abilities.

Modules and credits the course is articulated in four modules. At the end of the training path each course member should have at least 40 credits

PUNTOEDU TRAINING MODEL COURSES WORKSHOPS FORUM RESOURCES VIRTUAL CLASS TUTOR FACE TO FACE MEETINGS

PUNTOEDU COURSES ELABORATED MATERIAL Unfold in a hypertextual format, through links and other resources ( bibliography, study cases) which lead to research and production, as well as the personalisation of the process of teaching and learning.

PUNTOEDU COURSES 1.How children learn a second language and foreign language teaching approaches 2.Planning, recording and evaluating a language learning process 3.Teaching a foreign language to very young learners 4.Language pluralism and cultural dimension

PUNTOEDU WORKSHOPS “LEARNING OBJECTS” Cases which aim to give hints and tips for planning a teaching and learning path

PUNTOEDU FORUM AN INTERACTIVE CYBERSPACE FOR TRAINEES ON : Courses contents Subjects syllabus and curricula Experiences and produced material Methodology

PUNTOEDU Virtual Class On line meeting in cyberspace within a group of trainees and their tutor with the purpose of: 1.Discussing 2.Researching 3.Consolidating Issues dealt either at F2F meetings or in the on line environment

PUNTOEDU – Tutor’s competences To be able to use technology To have skills in implementing on line material To moderate, organize and achieve asynchronous discussions To establish ground rules, guide and animate synchronous discussions To interact actively with course members

PUNTOEDU – tutor’s function He/ she is supposed to : Introduce course members to the wide range of material available on the platform Provide them with a method for selecting learning material according to their needs and learning styles Create a comfortable and co-operative learning environment by avoiding any technological or psychological obstacles which may compromise the training process

PUNTOEDU – Tutor’s function Use the virtual class in order to facilitate and stimulate the course members to share ideas on the given learning material Plan effective face to face meetings by: 1.Organising groupwork 2.Devising tasks suitable to the aims to be achieved

PUNTOEDU – tutor’s function Make course members think and involve them actively within the group Bring significant contributions and provide trainees with experiences and interesting ideas.

Some hints for “successful tutoring” PLANNING – Plan your job carefully OBJECTIVES – Think about what you are expected to do and what you want to achieve. AUDIENCE – Whom exactly will you be addressing?

Some hints for “successful tutoring” APPROACH – A good rule is to tell your audience how the training course is organised… ORGANISATION – Think about how you will organise the F2F meetings

Some hints for “successful tutoring” MATERIAL – Produce forms to be filled in by your course members which will enable you to: 1.Analyse their experiences and attitudes 2.Analyse their needs and expectations 3.Make a selection of the main themes discussed on the Platform 4.Make a selection of topics which may be source of discussion 5.Foster learning co-operation 6. Integrate and form groups for discussion

AND… I hope I can manage ! I’m keeping my fingers crossed !! Or should I say …. Io speriamo che me la cavo !!!

WORKSHOP TASK 1 – Foresee a form to be filled in at the first face to face – meeting in order to make a profile of each course member ( attitudes, competences, experiences…) TASK 2 – Foresee a form on course members’ needs and expectations

WORKSHOP TASK 3 – Exploit the Platform and make a list of the main issues which you feel may be of interest and source of discussion among your course members.

WORKSHOP TASK 4 – Plan a suitable 18 hour-face to face-meeting programme in which you pinpoint objectives, activities, key points for discussion and tasks which may be of help to your course members while carrying out their training project
