Work-based Assessment Programme (WAP) Skilling for the Future...

What is it? “The Work-based Assessment Programme is designed to assess the competence of waste operatives when they have developed sufficient knowledge and skills to perform their job to the correct standard.”

Made up of 27+ modules Each module can be taken independently or collectively as part of a programme No limit to the number of modules a learner can take Free choice - learners or employers are free to choose which modules candidates take A maximum of 5 modules on each WAMITAB certificate Structure

This programme is not part of the NQF QCF or SCQF framework … It is regulated and quality assured by WAMITAB Each module has the potential to be levelled and early evidence suggests that the modules will fall into: -Entry Level 3 -Level 1 -Level 2 Frameworks, Regulation Levels and Mapping

The assessment will be undertaken as work is undertaken It may be possible to assess more than one candidate in a session Candidates may repeat assessment any number of times until competent Assessment Strategy

Competence is based on mastery of skills - no room for errors or fail! All assessment points must be successfully met Q&A sections clearly shown Exemplar answers to all Q&A provided Assessment Principles 1. Competency observation in the workplace 2. Question and answer sessions with individuals on a one-to-one basis (in or outside workplace)

There are a number of ways to prepare for assessment: 1.by experience, doing the job 2.by checking your skills against the assessment criteria and putting yourself forward when you are ready to be assessed. 3.by employer selection when they feel you are ready to be assessed 4.following a training course that prepares you for assessment Preparing for Assessment
