JET KZN PMDP Progress Report – April PMDP Objectives To rapidly upgrade the management skills of principals in selected schools in KZN through a highly applied methodology To strengthen the working relationships between the three critical layers in the functioning of a school (Circuit Manager; Principal & SMT) To improve the support and coaching skills of Circuit Managers and other DoE officials (where applicable) To develop sustainable professional learning communities To build a private/public funding and delivery model 2 The Honorable MEC of KZN Education Mr. S. JET KZN PMDP Progress Report – April Modules Covered 7 JET KZN PMDP SCOPE 2012 Module Attendees Outputs People ManagementHoDs The Agenda and minutes of at least 2 Departmental/Phase Meetings conducted during the PMDP Records of 1 Staff Development Workshop which they facilitated. The records are to include the workshop agenda, material used/content, as well as attendance register A planned schedule of Educator Supervision for a Term Signed copies of completed supervision documents for 2 educators. For each educator supervision, using the template provided, report on (1) Planning, Preparation & Presentation; (2) Written Work, and (3) Record Books Counselling Records for 1 team member Curriculum ManagementHoDs Completed HOD’s Curriculum Management Tracker for one term, for the primary/specialist subject the HOD is supervising A Phase/Departmental Annual Teaching Plan for 2 Grades A Phase/Departmental assessment plan aligned to CAPS for 2 Grades A completed Statistical and Diagnostic Analysis of examination results using the provided tool, along with proof of the remediation actions taken

JET KZN PMDP Progress Report – April Participant Comments “The coaching sessions were a close and safe environment where schools shared their specific challenges and the coach was able to relate and address these individually – ‘someone coming to the school to listen and support & not judge you’” “It improved our teamwork” “as SMTs, we managed to discuss and arrive at a shared vision with the key stakeholders of the school” “the programme improved our clarity on roles and responsibilities as well accountability as members of management” “ability to measure, track and record different types of information (attendance & curriculum activity)” “the workshops and the manner (methodology & approach) in which they brought sharing of best practices and solution sharing with colleagues from other schools” 11
