 It is one of the two main constituents of a clause. The other constituent is the predicate. Subjects govern agreement on the verb or auxiliary verb that carries the main tense of the sentence, as exemplified by the difference in verb forms between he eats and they eat.

 A simple sentence is a sentence that had one subject part and one predicate part. A compound sentence is a sentence that contains two or more simple sentences joined by and, or, or but. A compound subject has two or more simple subjects that have the same predicate. The subjects are joined by and.

 It is one of the two main parts of a sentence. For example, the simple sentence "John [is yellow]," John acts as the subject, and is yellow acts as the predicate, a subsequent description of the subject headed with a verb.

 A predicate nominative is a noun (naming word) or a pronoun (a word used in place of a noun) that is the same as the subject of the sentence. It explains or identifies something about the subject.  A predicative adjective is not part of the noun phrase headed by the noun it modifies; rather, it is the complement of a copulative function that lins it to the noun.  There son’s performance will be invaluable.

 A direct object is the receiver of action within a sentence, as in "He hit the ball."  The indirect object identifies to or for whom or what the action of the verb is performed.  The direct object and indirect object are different people or places or things.

 Simple: The child’s ambivalence in choosing his food, showed he was not hungry. The prevalence over the opposing team was very benevolent.  Compound: The wolves availed from the rabbit’s i njured leg.

 P. Nominative: The evil scientist is equivalent to Mr. Bad.  Direct Object: Mrs. Smith gave in the boys project a horrible evaluation.  His valedictory was very well given in the graduation.  The army vanquished the enemy.  Indirect Object: The girl wrote invalid answers on the test.  His love for her was evinced by a love song.  P. Adjective: There son’s performance will be invaluable.
