What is a Title I School? and How does a school qualify for Title I funding? Each year the federal government provides funding to schools that qualify based on the number of students receiving free and reduced lunch. The goal of Title I is to create a partnership between school and family to ensure our students reach the highest level of social and academic achievement and to overcome barriers to success.

What Does school-wide Title I mean? All students needing additional assistance in achieving academic success may receive help from the Title I staff All resources purchased through Title I funds are available for use by all teachers All parents can take part in parent involvement activities paid with Title I funds

Which students are served in Title I Like the Early Intervention Program (EIP) and the State-funded Instructional Extension Program (SIEP), Title I provides additional assistance for students who are struggling in the areas of reading and/or math. The difference is EIP and SIEP come from state funds and Title I comes from federal funds. In 45min. segments, students are taught in small settings during the school day. Student participation is currently based on the district’s reading and math Student Learning Objectives, also known as SLO’s and the Georgia Milestone state assessment

Benefits of Title I Funding We are able to….. hire Title I teachers and/or tutors to provide instruction in a small group setting. hire instructional coaches who work with teachers to improve their content knowledge and teaching practices hire a Parent Involvement Paraprofessional who works to develop opportunities for parents and the community to become more involved in the school establish a Parent Resource Room provide funding for parental involvement activities which is 1% of the actual budget purchase technology and instructional materials Provide coverage for teachers for collaborative planning

Parental Involvement Plan (PIP) Parental Involvement Plan outlines the various activities and programs we will have throughout the year to support the needs of the parents and students at our school. Our plan will describe how we will: Continue to foster positive relationships with our parents Link our families to learning Address differences Share our power in ensuring the success of our students

Elementary and Secondary Act The Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 establishes the criteria in which schools are required to demonstrate an on-going increase in achievement. Each school is provided a score for each academic area and also includes a score for attendance and student career portfolios. This score is identified as the school’s College and Career Ready Performance Index score (CCRPI). The CCRPI score provides a comprehensive look at a school’s performance. Each school has the potential to earn up to 100pts. Overall scores are used to identify schools as Reward, Priority, Focus or Alert Additional information regarding ESEA can be found on our school website or on Georgia’s ESEA Flexibility Waiver.

School Goals Goal#1: 75% (9% increase) of LGE students will meet or exceed expectations in the area of math on the Georgia Milestone by implementing a continuous process of analyzing performance data and provide researched based practices to differentiate the content in order to meet identified needs. Goal #2: 82% (4% increase) of LGE students will meet or exceed the expectations in the area of science on the Georgia Milestone by implementing the use of Close reading and the Race writing strategy during both the Language Arts and Science block.
