The Truth Blesses Believers (2 John 1-4) I.The Truth Blesses Believers (v.3) John boldly asserts that the divine blessings of Grace, Mercy and Peace will be with the believers.

The Truth Blesses Believers (2 John 1-4) B. Grace 1. Common definitions a) “God’s Righteousness At Christ’s Expense b) God’s unmerited favor c) Receiving from God that which you do not deserve (e.g., forgiveness).

The Truth Blesses Believers (2 John 1-4) 2. Grace, in operation, views sinners as guilty and undeserving. Therefore when applied, grace bestows God’s favor upon sinners in spite of their unworthiness (Rom 5:20, Eph. 1:7-8). “ what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” Psalm 8:4

The Truth Blesses Believers (2 John 1-4) C. Mercy Mercy is a form of love determined by the state or condition of its object. In operation, mercy views sinners as needy and helpless (Rom 11:30-32, Eph. 2:4-5). God’s love moved the Father to send a savior because of our tremendous, spiritual need. Thus, the old saying “Mercy suits my case” is true because it acknowledges one’s sinful state.

The Truth Blesses Believers (2 John 1-4) D.Peace Peace is the result when both grace and mercy have been poured abundantly into one’s life. In its deepest application, it is the consequence of restored relations and harmony with God (Rom. 5:1).

The Truth Controls Believers (2 John 1-4) Divine truth controls believers as we live it daily. As we walk in truth, we are aligned with God so that we remain on the straight and narrow path. "Enter through the narrow gate.
