CHANGING THE FUTURE BY PLAYING WITH IT FIRST BY NATHANIEL SPOHN / MARCH 24 TH 2011

MY VISION TO ENABLE PEOPLE TO DISCOVER THROUGH PLAY THE REAL POSSIBILITY OF CONTRIBUTING TO A HAPPY PLANET. MY PRODUCT A FAMILY BOARD GAME THAT COMBINES COMPETITION AND COLLABORATION TO GAIN AN EMPATHETIC UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO SOLVE TOUGH GLOBAL PROBLEMS. CREATING MEANING THROUGH FUN BUILD AWARENESS THINK DIFFERENTLY ACT POSITIVELY …WHILST HAVING FUN TOGETHER! (PLAYERS GAIN A WHOLISTIC UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR OWN IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT) (PLAYERS POSITIVLY ASSOSIATE WITH PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT) (PLAYERS TAKE ACTIONS TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT)

We mentored Nathaniel while he developed the concept for Impact - the Game. We chose to do this because we believe that this game has the potential to challenge people's views on the environment. Not in a preachy way, but in a way that is more subtle and impactful. Too many 'educational' games hit you over the head with the learning. What I like about Impact, is that it is an invitation to learn. For, if you want to win the game, it is in your best interested to think more deeply about our world and the challenges it faces. What better way to learn, than through play? Rory O'Connor, The Creativity Hub. Creator of Rory's Story Cubes. I see "Impact" as a very useful tool to introduce the concepts of environment sustainability and responsibility to students in an engaging, enjoyable way. This is a perfect way to get students discussing the issues and learning how to cooperate around environmental issues. I wish some of the participants in this game were politicians of my own country. Nan Goodship, Elementary and High School Teacher In order to avoid serious environmental collapse, and create a new society that is prosperous, fair, and sustainable, we must all learn to see and act, in a new way. Mostly importantly, we need new and innovative approaches in how we learn about sustainability and other societal issues. I see great potential in using games in increasing understanding about sustainability, and Impact, is a leading example of this new approach to education. Peter Sims, MsC. Sustainabiltiy Consultant and Team Leader, KaosPilot Anna Madsen

As a former employee at a child care institution, I'm thrilled about Impact. It would have empowered me to stimulate the childrens' awareness of the world even more during our social time. Thijs van Tilburg Normally at MindTwister it’s struggle to find consensus, usually some of us like a game and others have reservations, but when we do find consensus, its a hit! On behalf of MindTwister we are all very enthusiastic about Impact, and that’s unusual for a new game! Another important reason for me personally (and I think my colleagues agree) is that I salute the objective of the game. What could be more important? I think you have made a great job so far! It would be an honor for us to publish IMPACT. Joel Ydring, MindTwister Game Publishing Company Impact is a game that gives children and adults alike a chance to discover how their actions might lead to a better world, -or a worse one. We Earthlings are in a delicate position right now, and it's essential that we open our eyes to how the life we lead affects our home; the Earth. Inga Auðbjörg, Politian and KaosPilot
